Introduce yourself!
We haven't had any activity on the salt-water forum so far.... Those who have salt-water tanks, please introduce yourself, let us know what experience you have, what tanks you currently maintain, and what you are interested in.
I do not currently have a salt-water tank, however I'm seriously considering getting started. I have a 100G tank with an overflow that I'm in the process of plumbing with a sump system (going slowly because I have a lot of other stuff going on in life). I'm thinking about the idea of setting it up as a live-rock with fish tank. Maybe a few other invertebrates, but no sensitive corals. I would probably stick to smaller fish, with a focus on the micro-ecosystem instead of a few large fish.
Hi I'm Sara. I just moved back to Albuquerque from Michigan and while there I had 2 90 gallons, 1 20 gallon and a 10 gallon, all of them freshwater. I sold those tanks before moving and now have a brand spanking new 29 gallon saltwater biocube with a protein skimmer and extra powerhead.
Since it's an all in one I didn't change very much, however I took out the bioballs, carbon filter and stock sponges. In the central back compartment, I added some chaeto and a light mounted on a mirror to turn on during the night. It's been cycling for a little over a month and all I currently have is a clean up crew. I plan to eventually have some softies with 3 to 4 fish in there.
I actually found this place after searching for some Albuquerque reefkeeping clubs and people selling soft frags. Evidently fishkeeping in general is not very popular here. lol
Well at least I found this forum and it's actually active.
